Actuarial Senior Consultant, Actuarial Analytics
Zurich North America is looking for an Actuarial Senior Consultant to join our Actuarial Analytics team within Finance & Actuarial out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL. While this position will be based out of our Schaumburg Headquarters, we are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.
Actuarial Analytics supports actuarial reserving by providing leading-edge models & explanatory tools for in-depth reserve analysis and loss forecasts. In this role you would be responsible for actuarial specific predictive models which enable deep dive analysis to better understand the underlying drivers of performance. You would also develop AI tools to make the actuarial reserving process more efficient and insightful.
In this role you will be responsible for the following:
- Work with large datasets and employ statistical techniques to analyze claims data and loss development
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor advanced predictive models
- Deliver insights, produce diagnostics, and create tools to aid in reserving analyses
- Transform Finance Actuarial’s way of working and drive operational efficiency by collaborating with the reserving transformation team to create AI tools and agents
- Work closely with the Data Visualization team to help tell a story and improve transparency of the models to key stakeholders
- Partner with stakeholders to translate actuarial and business questions into actionable analyses
This role will be filled via either the Qualification track or Non-qualification track. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Basic Qualifications (Qualification track):
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
OR - Bachelors Degree
AND - 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification
OR - 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification
OR
Basic Qualifications (Non-qualification track):
- Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
OR - Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
AND - Knowledge of insurance products and operations
- Experience applying quantitative concepts
- Experience communicating analysis results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in machine learning and building predictive models
- Strong advanced analytics experience with the following programs and languages:
- Python
- Microsoft Azure Databricks
- Microsoft Azure Data Factory
- SQL
- R
- Commercial Property & Casualty reserving experience
- Experience building AI tools/agents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The combined salary range for this position is $86,200.00 - $217,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Non-Qualification track is $86,200.00 - $142,700.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. The proposed salary range for the Qualification track is $132,500.00 - $217,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
